Venezuelan Dominoes

Privacy policy

In effect 9 October 2026. Venezuelan Dominoes is made by Alessandro Ceccarello. This page is the whole of what the app does with information.

No account

There is no sign-up, no sign-in and no password. You never give the app an email address, a phone number or an Apple ID.

Playing on your own

A match against the computer happens entirely on your phone. Nothing about the match is sent anywhere, apart from the anonymous usage counts described below, and only while sharing them is on.

Playing at a table with friends

Sitting at a table with other people means your phone talks to one server, ours, at dominoes.boringmode.com. It sends three things about you, and nothing else.

The server keeps each table as one file, so a dropped connection or a restart does not end the game. A table is deleted seven days after the last thing that happened at it.

Anonymous usage counts

From the version of the app that adds the Share usage data switch to Settings, the app counts a few things and sends the counts to our server, so that we can tell whether people come back to the game and which parts of it get played. The switch is on until you turn it off.

The counts are kept on our server in a file that is never published, for 13 months, and then deleted. We read them as weekly totals. They are not shared with anyone, not sold, and not used for advertising or to track you.

A count made while the phone is offline waits on the phone and goes out later. Turn off Settings, Share usage data, and nothing more is counted or sent.

On your phone

The app remembers the display name you typed, the code of the last table you sat at, and your unfinished match, in its own storage, where no other app can read it. Deleting the app deletes all three.

The random identifier is kept in the device's keychain instead, which outlives the app. Delete the app and install it again and you get the same identifier back, which is what lets a table you were in the middle of still know which chair is yours. Nothing else of the app's is kept there.

What the app does not do

No advertising. No analytics company and no analytics code from anyone else: the usage counts above go only to our own server. No tracking, and nothing at all is shared with another company for tracking or for advertising. No third-party code: the app is Apple's own frameworks and the code in this project, and nothing else. Nothing is sold. Nothing is used to build a profile of you.

Logs

The server writes one line for each thing that happens at a table, with the display name and never the random identifier, so that a problem can be diagnosed. Those lines are kept with the server's system logs and are not where the usage counts go. The website and the game server sit behind Cloudflare, which carries the traffic and can see the connection; what Cloudflare keeps is governed by its own privacy notice.

Children

The app is rated 4+ and collects nothing beyond what is written above. It has no chat, no messages, no photographs, no profiles, and no way to open the web.

Deleting what the server holds

Leave the table and it is gone seven days later on its own. To have it removed sooner, write to the address below with the four-letter code.

Changes

If any of this changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
